Sheet in PC AR 3000x2000 mm transparent

A Sheet in PC AR is transparent polycarbonate with a scratch resistant surface treatment on both sides. AR stands for scratch resistant surface treatment, that is, the surface is treated so it takes scratches better. The base is the same clear polycarbonate, but with a harder surface layer that protects against wear.

The density is 1.20 g/cm³. The yield strength is above 60 MPa, the elongation at yield 6 percent and the modulus 2 350 MPa in both tension and bending. The flexural strength is 90 MPa. The abrasion measured with Taber 100 cycles, 500 g CS 10F gives less than 4 percent added haze. At 500 cycles according to ANSI Z26.1 the value stays below 9 percent.

Vicat B/50 is 148 °C, HDT/A 1.8 MPa 128 °C and HDT/B 0.45 MPa 140 °C. The maximum service temperature is 120 °C continuous without load. The thermal expansion is 65 x 10⁻⁶ per kelvin and the thermal conductivity 0.20 W/(m·K). The water absorption is 0.12 percent at ambient humidity and 0.30 percent at saturation.

The AR sheet cannot be thermoformed. The scratch protection is a surface coating that cracks during forming, so the sheet is to be machined with cutting tools and bent mechanically instead of being formed with heat. Use it where the surface meets touch, cleaning or light mechanical strain, for example as front glazing, display windows, instrument panels and guards where the optics have to last.

This sheet in PC AR is 3000x2000 mm in transparent, a format that suits both large surfaces and parts that are to be cut to size.
