Sheet in PI GR40 1000x300 mm gray

PI, that is polyimide, is the most heat resistant plastic we sell. This grade has graphite blended in, 40 percent, and is the stiffest and heaviest PI grade in the catalog, developed for where dimensional stability and dry lubrication weigh heaviest.

The graphite content makes it the stiffest grade, but also the most brittle: the elongation at break is only 1.8 percent, so the material cracks rather than bends. The tensile strength sits at 52 MPa and the material is dimensionally stable up to 325 degrees. It has no melting point and matches fire rating UL 94 V-0.

The weakness is hydrolysis, that is hot water and steam. Where the surface has to slide dry, hold its size and take heat, this grade is hard to match.

This sheet in PI GR40 is 1000x300 mm in gray, a format that suits wear plates, sliding surfaces and bearing blanks that are then cut or machined to size.
