    PI, that is polyimide, is the most heat resistant plastic we sell. This grade has graphite blended in, 40 percent, and is one of the stiffest and heaviest in the catalog.

    The stiffness has a price in toughness: the elongation at break is only 1.6 percent, so the material cracks rather than bends. The tensile strength sits at 58 MPa. The material has no melting point and matches fire rating UL 94 V-0.

    The weakness is hydrolysis, that is hot water and steam. Where dimensional stability and dry lubrication in heat are what matter, this grade is a safe choice.

    The 500x300 mm format in black makes this sheet in PI GR40 a practical blank for both wear plates and precision parts.
