A sheet in PTFE X is a modified fluoroplastic whose additives raise wear resistance and dimensional stability without sacrificing the chemical resistance. The result is a sheet that suits both punched seals and machined wear surfaces against steel.

The base material is built on PTFE and therefore handles continuous operating temperatures around 260 °C as well as extreme low temperatures down to -200 °C. The fire rating is V0 to UL 94. The density is around 2.17 g/cm3, which makes the material heavy compared with other engineering plastics but better than most of them in the temperature window. Water absorption is negligible, so the sheet keeps its dimensions even in a wet or humid environment.

The modified composition lowers cold flow and raises compressive strength. In practice that means a gasket or a slide rail in PTFE X holds torque or preload longer than the same part in pure PTFE. The coefficient of friction is still very low, which gives dry running against metal without stick-slip. The wear rate is noticeably lower, especially at intermediate temperatures and moderate surface speed.

The chemical resistance is practically total. PTFE X handles strong acids, bases, organic solvents, oils and oxidizing agents without swelling or dimensional change. That makes the material a standard choice in pumps, valves, dosing equipment and process vessels where an ordinary elastomer would give up.

In sheet form the material is used for punched O-rings and collared gaskets, milled or water jet cut guides, wear strips in conveyors and packaging machines, insulating washers in high voltage equipment and contact faces against moving metal parts. Machining uses sharp cutters and moderate feed; chipping is avoided with the correct tool geometry. The material cannot be bonded conventionally without surface etching, so mechanical clamping or bolted joints are standard.

Against a pure PTFE sheet, PTFE X wins when the part will see continuous compression, sliding wear or dimensional requirements under load. Pure PTFE is enough when low friction and chemical inertness are the only driving properties and the load is low. Glass or carbon filled PTFE grades are harder but wear the mating surface more; PTFE X is a middle ground with a cleaner mating surface.

The color is natural white to light beige, depending on the modification. The sheets are supplied in standard formats, from thin films up to thicker blanks for punching and milling. We cut to the dimension and format you want for a cutting fee, so your production can start straight away at the right size.

The 1000x1000 mm sheet in natural is a special compound of PTFE plastic and is supplied as a blank to machine from, in the 1000x1000 mm format.
