This is a swiveling caster with a tread in polyurethane and a hub in cast iron, mounted on a top plate and available with both a wheel brake and a total lock brake. The top plate with its four screw holes gives a steady mounting against a frame or machine foot, and the bracket turns through 360 degrees so that heavy carts can be lined up even in a small space. With a wheel brake only the wheel is locked, with a total lock brake the swivel movement is locked as well, which means the cart can be parked completely still.

The tread is a cast PU with a hardness of 93 degrees Shore A. It is a hard, wear resistant running surface that rolls easily and at the same time spares the floor better than steel. The polyurethane has a low rolling resistance in relation to its carrying capacity, so the wheel gets going without unnecessary force despite the heavy loads it handles. PU takes oil, grease and mild chemicals, which makes it reliable on a workshop floor where such things occur.

A short comparison sets the caster in context. A soft rubber wheel gives a quieter run and takes up shocks better on an uneven surface, but it carries less and rolls more sluggishly. A pure nylon wheel rolls most easily of all and carries the most, but it is louder and can scratch delicate floors. PU at 93 Shore A lands right in between; hard enough for efficient rolling under load, tough enough not to break up the floor surface.

The hub in cast iron gives the stiffness needed at high load and carries the whole load. Inside sit double ball bearings, two rows of balls that spread the weight and keep an even run even when the wheel is fully loaded. That solution reduces wear and keeps the wheel in shape under long lasting heavy duty. The series handles load capacities up to 3500 kg per wheel.

The wheels come in diameters from 85 to 400 mm. A larger diameter rolls more easily over joints, cable ducts and thresholds and lowers the rolling resistance, which is noticeable over longer transport distances and at high weight. A smaller diameter keeps the overall height down where the clearance is limited. The span means one and the same series stretches from medium heavy carts to really heavy rigs.

Where does it fit? Swivel casters with a PU tread, cast iron hub and top plate sit under heavy transport carts, material carts, assembly rigs and rolling machine underframes. The option to choose a wheel brake or a total lock brake makes the series flexible: a wheel brake is enough when the cart is to stay put sideways, a total lock brake is needed when it has to stand completely fixed during work. The hard tread is happiest on concrete, tiles and other load bearing industrial floors.

Think about the operating environment. Polyurethane is happiest at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp environments. During long standstills under full load the tread can take a temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while; that is normal for the material. On very coarse or bumpy ground a softer wheel damps more, while this caster comes into its own on even floors.
