Think about the operating environment. Polyurethane is happy at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp surroundings, and it resists most oils and greases in a workshop. If the caster stands still for a long time under full load the tread can take a temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while; that is normal for elastic materials and disappears in use.
Industrial caster in a swivel bracket with twin wheel, PUR tread and PA6 hub
This is a swiveling industrial caster with a swivel bracket and two wheels side by side, where the tread is cast polyurethane and the hub nylon PA6. The design combines maneuverability with a tread that is gentle on the floor, suited to heavy transport that changes direction often. The PUR tread has a hardness of 98 degrees Shore A, firm but not rock hard, and the swivel bracket turns 360 degrees. The twin wheel spreads the load across two running surfaces and the series handles load capacities up to 1350 kg per unit. The caster can be ordered with a wheel brake.
Polyurethane gives a good balance in use. The tread has low rolling resistance in relation to its wear strength, so the caster gets moving and swivels easily even when the cart is heavily loaded, while it settles slightly against the floor and takes up small unevenness. That keeps both noise and vibration down compared with a completely stiff plastic tread, and PUR is far gentler on the floor than a hard nylon wheel is. On a swivel bracket the compliant tread shows up as an even and controlled swivel.
The difference against the neighboring materials is worth weighing up. A soft rubber wheel runs even more quietly and cushions more, but it takes less load and gets sluggish under heavy weight. A hard wheel made entirely of nylon carries more and rolls and swivels the easiest, but it makes noise and can scratch sensitive floors. PUR sits in between: good load capacity and wear strength, low rolling resistance and a tread that leaves no marks on painted or polished concrete. That makes the caster a tough choice for workshop floors where you want both to maneuver and to protect the surface.
The PA6 hub is light and corrosion-free and carries the load without deforming. Nylon does not rust and handles moisture and cleaning well, which suits places where the floor is hosed down. The optional wheel brake locks the rotation of the wheel so the cart stays where it was put, handy during loading and work at a fixed position. The bracket is mounted with a top plate, four screw holes against a stable underframe.
Inside each hub sit double ball bearings. Two rows of balls spread the load and keep the running smooth even when the wheel carries heavy weight and is turned often, which reduces wear and keeps both the roll and the swivel light over time.
The wheels come in diameters from 150 to 200 mm. A larger diameter rolls more easily over joints and thresholds and lowers the rolling resistance, while a smaller one keeps the overall height down where the space under the cart is limited. Within the range you choose by how even the floor is and how heavy the load is.
Where does it fit? A PUR tread with a PA6 hub, swivel bracket and brake goes under heavy picking carts, material carts, assembly carts and rolling stands in workshops, warehouses and lighter manufacturing. The swiveling action and the floor-friendly tread make the caster a good choice where you move a heavy load in a small space without wearing the surface or making noise. The brake holds the cart in place during work.
