Industrial caster in a swivel bracket with twin wheel, ElastoPUR tread and cast iron hub
This is a swiveling industrial caster with twin wheel, ElastoPUR tread and cast iron hub. The bracket turns freely around its own axis, so the wheel follows wherever the cart is steered and makes heavy loads easy to move around. The twin wheel rests on two running surfaces side by side, which gives a wide and stable stance and keeps the cart steady through the turns.
The tread is ElastoPUR in a firmer version at 93 degrees Shore A. It is an elastic polyurethane, but the higher hardness makes it stiffer than the softest ElastoPUR tread. The result is a tread that still spares the floor and damps a fair amount, yet takes a higher point load and rolls more easily than a really soft surface. The polyurethane stands up to wear well and resists oil, grease and mild chemicals, so it lasts in a workshop with daily use.
How does it roll? The harder the tread is, the less it is squeezed against the floor, and the lower the rolling resistance becomes. This 93 degree ElastoPUR tread sits at the firmer end, so the wheel starts easily and keeps rolling easily even with a heavy load on it. Compared with a soft rubber tread, which damps more but demands more force, this tread gives light running and higher load capacity and gives up a little of the very softest comfort. If you want maximum damping for fragile goods, a softer wheel suits better; if you want to move heavy things with little effort, this is a good choice.
The cast iron hub is the body of the wheel. It is stiff and holds its shape and carries the load without giving way, and the series handles load capacities up to 1800 kg per twin wheel. Inside sit double ball bearings that put the load on two rows of balls and keep the running even under heavy weight.
The wheels come in diameters from 200 to 250 mm. The larger diameter rolls more smoothly over joints and thresholds and lowers the rolling resistance, while the smaller one keeps the overall height down where ceiling height or platform height is limited. If you need to park the cart, the caster is available with a wheel brake that locks the running surface so the cart stands still even on a slight slope. Mounting is with a top plate and four screw holes against a flat underframe.
Where does it fit? ElastoPUR 93 degrees with a cast iron hub in a swivel bracket sits under heavy transport carts, machine underframes, assembly carts and pallet trucks in manufacturing and warehousing. The firmer tread makes the caster suitable where the load is high but the floor still has to be spared, for example on coated concrete in a workshop. The twin wheel steadies carts that would otherwise get wobbly under a heavy load, and the swivel bracket makes them easy to steer in narrow aisles.
Think about the operating environment. Polyurethane is happiest at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp surroundings. At very low temperatures the tread becomes stiffer. If the wheel stands still for a long time under a full load, the running surface can take a temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while; that is normal for elastic materials.
