Think about the operating environment. ElastoGum is happy indoors at normal temperature and in dry to slightly damp premises. If the wheel stands still for a long time under full load, the tread can take a temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while; that is normal for elastic materials.
Swivel caster in ElastoGum with PA6 hub and top plate
This is a swiveling caster with a tread in ElastoGum and a hub in PA6, mounted with a top plate. It is made for carts that should be easy to steer and roll quietly and gently over the floor in daily operation. The tread is an elastic rubber with a hardness of 75 degrees Shore A, a somewhat firmer variant that gives a good trade-off between comfort, rolling properties and load capacity.
The semi-soft tread is the advantage of this wheel. ElastoGum settles against the surface and takes up joints and small unevenness, which damps shocks and keeps the noise down while the floor is spared. At 75 Shore A the tread is steadier than the very softest one, which means the wheel carries more and rolls a little more easily without losing the quiet ride. The grip is good, so the wheel rolls safely even on a floor that is dusty or slightly slippery.
What about the starting and rolling resistance? A tread at 75 Shore A is compressed less against the surface than a really soft tread, so the wheel gets going more easily and rolls with lower resistance, while a good part of the damping remains. Compared with a hard PA6 wheel this one still rolls somewhat more sluggishly but runs clearly more quietly and is kinder to the floor. Against a softer ElastoGum tread at 65 Shore A this wheel carries more and rolls more easily, but damps somewhat less. That places the caster in a broad middle ground that suits most carts in continuous indoor use.
The PA6 hub is light and corrosion-free and holds its shape under load. In the hub sits a ball bearing that gives low friction and a smooth, easy ride. The combination of a semi-soft tread and a ball bearing makes the caster easy to swivel and push by hand even with the cart fully loaded, and the ball bearing keeps the rolling resistance down over longer transport distances.
The caster comes in diameters from 100 to 125 mm and handles load capacities up to 140 kg per wheel. A larger diameter rolls more easily over joints and thresholds and lowers the rolling resistance, while the smaller one keeps the overall height down where the space under the cart is limited. The caster is mounted with a top plate, a square mounting plate with four screw holes that gives a steady and torsionally stiff fastening, suitable where the cart already has pre-drilled holes for a standard plate. The swivel bracket turns freely 360 degrees and makes the cart easy to maneuver in tight spaces.
Where does it fit? A swivel caster in ElastoGum at 75 Shore A with a top plate often sits under transport carts, material carts, picking carts and rolling work benches in industry, warehouses and workshops. The quiet, floor-friendly tread makes it a good choice on painted concrete, tile and vinyl flooring, and the higher load capacity makes it suitable even for carts that carry quite a lot at once.
