Swivel caster in PUR with PA6 hub and top plate
This is a swiveling caster with a tread in cast polyurethane and a hub in PA6, mounted on a top plate with four screw holes. The top plate gives a stable, spread-out fastener against the cart frame or the machine underframe, which is a good choice when the caster has to carry load and take side forces during swiveling at the same time. The bracket turns freely through 360 degrees so you can steer the equipment smoothly even where the aisles are narrow.
The polyurethane tread has a hardness of 98 degrees Shore A. It is a firm material that takes pressure without deforming noticeably, yet still gives a little against the floor. In practice that means low rolling resistance combined with a tread that does not grind on the surface the way a bare plastic wheel does. PUR takes wear well and stands up to oil, grease and mild chemicals, and the light-colored tread normally leaves no marks behind on a clean floor.
A comparison helps you place the wheel correctly. Choose a softer rubber or elastomer wheel and you get a quieter and better cushioned run on an uneven floor, but lower load capacity and stiffer rolling. Go the other way with a hard nylon wheel and it rolls the most easily of all and carries the most, but it gets noisier and can scratch delicate surfaces. Polyurethane at 98 Shore A lands in the middle and suits anyone who wants easy rolling and reasonable care for the floor at the same time.
The PA6 hub is corrosion-free and light, handles moisture and most workshop chemicals and keeps the total weight down compared with metal. The wheel can be ordered with a ball bearing, double ball bearings or a roller bearing. A ball bearing gives low friction and a smooth run under normal load. Double ball bearings spread the load over two rows of balls and keep the run stable when the cart is heavy. A roller bearing takes high radial load and suits places where the wheel meets strong downward pressure while rolling.
The diameters run from 80 to 125 mm and the wheel carries up to 150 kg each. A larger diameter rolls more easily over thresholds, door strips and joints and lowers the rolling resistance further, while a smaller diameter lowers the overall height where ceiling height or free height under the frame is limited. The top plate makes the mounting simple and stable, and you can add a wheel brake that locks the wheel or a total lock brake that locks both the wheel and the swivel.
Where is it used? Swivel casters in PUR with a PA6 hub and a top plate sit under transport carts, picking carts, work benches on wheels, material carts and lighter machines indoors. The top plate makes it a natural choice when you are building something new and want a durable anchorage rather than a simple bolt hole. It works well on concrete, tile, epoxy and other hard indoor floors.
Think about the operating environment. Polyurethane prefers to work at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp spaces. If the caster stands still under full load for a longer period, the tread can take a temporary flat spot; it rolls out after a while and is normal for elastic materials.
