This swivel caster has a tread in cast polyurethane with a hardness of around 98 degrees Shore A and a hub in polycarbonate. The bracket swivels freely through 360 degrees and is mounted with a top plate with four screw holes, which gives a stable mounting and makes the caster easy to screw on under a cart or an underframe. It is a mobile caster for light to medium heavy transport indoors, made for settings where you need to steer and maneuver often.

Polyurethane is a floor friendly tread material. It is kinder to the surface than hard plastic or steel, normally leaves no black marks and damps small unevenness better than an all hard wheel. Despite the elasticity, polyurethane has a low rolling resistance, so the caster gets going without unnecessary force and rolls smoothly on an even floor. The material takes abrasion well and stands up to most oils, greases and mild chemicals found in a workplace.

The tread sits in the firmer part of the polyurethane scale. Against a really soft rubber or PU wheel it damps slightly less and runs a little louder, but in return it rolls more easily and carries more. Against an all hard plastic wheel it is quieter and kinder to the floor. The caster lands in a good middle position, soft enough for comfort and quiet running but firm enough to roll easily with a load on.

The wheels come in diameters from 50 to 75 mm. A smaller diameter keeps the overall height low where space is limited, while the slightly larger one rolls a little more easily over joints and thresholds. The hub in polycarbonate is light and corrosion free and carries the tread without rusting, which suits damp environments that are cleaned often. This version is supplied without a separate bearing in the hub, a simple and maintenance free solution for the load the wheel is sized for.

The top plate with four holes gives a steady mounting and is practical on new designs, since the hole pattern is easy to prepare. Note that the top plate version in this series carries more than the matching caster with a bolt hole, up to 55 kg per wheel, because the plate spreads the load over a larger area. If you would rather have a bolt hole, the same caster comes in that version. You can choose a wheel brake, which locks the wheel, or a total lock brake, which locks both wheel and swivel and parks the cart completely.

It often sits under roll carts, serving carts, equipment stands, displays and lighter machine underframes. The combination of a floor friendly PU tread and a corrosion free PC hub makes the caster suitable in clean settings such as shops, care environments, offices and light workshops.

Think about the operating environment. Polyurethane is happiest at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp spaces, and it does not take high temperatures as well as a heat resistant plastic. If the caster stands still for a long time under full load, the tread can take a temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while; that is normal for elastic materials.
