This is a swiveling caster with a tread in TPE and a hub in polypropylene, a light and mobile wheel for indoor use where maneuvering counts for more than heavy load. TPE is a thermoplastic elastomer, usually in a light or gray shade that does not rub off onto the floor. The tread is soft and quiet, which makes the caster pleasant to roll in premises where the noise level is noticed.

Since the bracket is swiveling, the caster turns 360 degrees around its own stud. That means you can steer a cart sideways and around corners without having to lift or back up, which pays off in narrow aisles and with frequent changes of direction. The caster settles into the direction you push, so it follows your hand instead of fighting back.

The softness of the tread governs how the wheel behaves in operation. A soft TPE wheel gives low starting resistance at normal weight and absorbs small impacts from joints and seams, but it has slightly higher rolling resistance than a hard plastic wheel as the load increases. Compared with a wheel in nylon, which rolls the easiest but is noisier and can scratch sensitive floors, TPE is quieter and kinder to the surface. Against a rubber wheel the TPE wheel is cleaner and lighter, but the rubber takes coarser unevenness better. This particular wheel belongs where load and surface finish matter more than maximum load capacity.

The polypropylene hub keeps the caster light and takes moisture and most mild cleaning agents without rusting. Inside the hub sits a ball bearing that gives low friction and smooth running; the wheel gets going without unnecessary force and rolls softly through many starts and stops. That shows on a picking cart or a trolley table that is moved all day.

This family has the 125 mm diameter. A diameter of that size rolls easily over thresholds and cable ducts and keeps the rolling resistance down while the wheel is still compact enough for ordinary carts and underframes. Smaller diameters creep in under lower furniture, but a larger one rolls more easily over unevenness; 125 mm is a balanced middle size for mobile indoor carts.

Where does it fit? Swivel casters in TPE with a polypropylene hub often sit under serving carts, cleaning carts, picking carts, material boxes and lighter equipment underframes. The light, non-marking tread makes it a good choice on painted concrete, tile and vinyl flooring in environments such as retail, warehousing, offices, healthcare premises and the lighter workstations of the workshop. The quiet running is appreciated where staff move close to the equipment.

Think about the operating environment. TPE is happy at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp environments. The material is not built for heavy industrial loads or hot surfaces, and at extra high load the rolling resistance increases. If the caster stands still for a long time under load, the soft tread can take a small temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while; that is normal for elastic materials.
