Swivel caster in PP with bolt hole, harder version

This swivel caster is molded entirely in polypropylene, both tread and hub, in a firmer grade with a hardness of around 75 degrees Shore D. The swiveling bracket turns the wheel through 360 degrees, so you can easily maneuver a cart sideways and around corners. Since the whole wheel is solid and has no separate tread, you get a simple and durable design that handles daily indoor use.

A firmer polypropylene rolls very easily. The tread barely deforms under load, which keeps the rolling resistance low and lets the wheel get moving without unnecessary force, even on a floor with some dirt and dust on it. You notice it in work with many short moves, where every start otherwise wears on your arms. Polypropylene also handles water, grease and most mild chemicals, and the harder grade stands up to wear somewhat better than the softer one.

The high hardness has a downside. A hard wheel does not absorb shocks and can be noisier on a hard floor than a soft rubber or polyurethane wheel, and over uneven ground the ride gets bumpier. If you need quiet and want to be gentle on a sensitive floor, a softer alternative is the right one; if you are after the lowest rolling resistance, low weight and good chemical resistance, the hard PP tread is a good choice. It comes down to what your own environment demands.

The wheels come in diameters from 30 to 100 mm, a wide span that covers everything from small appliance casters to slightly larger cart wheels. A smaller diameter gives a low overall height and fits where space is limited, while a larger one rolls more easily over joints and thresholds. The hub can be ordered with a plain bearing, which is maintenance-free and handles dirt and moisture, or with a ball bearing for lower rolling resistance and a smoother run when the wheel rolls a lot.

The bracket is fastened with a bolt hole, that is a single through hole for one bolt, which suits underframes and fittings prepared for a central bolt. The same caster is also available with a top plate if you would rather screw it down in four holes. You can choose a wheel brake that locks the wheel, or a total lock brake that locks both the wheel and the swivel and parks the cart completely.

Where does it fit? With a load capacity of up to 140 kg, this is a widely used indoor caster for light and medium duty tasks. It sits under appliances, instrument carts, shelf carts and smaller machines. Polypropylene handles hosing down and cleaning, which makes the caster suitable in kitchens, healthcare settings and clean areas where hygiene matters and the casters are wiped down often.

Think about the operating environment. Polypropylene suits normal indoor temperature and does not handle high temperatures as well as a heat-resistant plastic. The hard tread flexes very little, so over thresholds and rough ground the ride feels bumpy; a soft wheel is more comfortable there. On an even and dry floor, on the other hand, the caster runs light and predictable.
