Furniture caster in a swivel bracket with twin wheel, PUR tread and PA6 hub, bolt hole

This is a furniture caster in a swiveling bracket with two wheels side by side, with a tread in polyurethane and a hub in PA6, mounted with a bolt hole. The hardness sits at 98 degrees Shore A, that is to say a firm polyurethane, a notch harder than a standard tread. The PA6 hub carries the load and gives a stiff and corrosion-free body, while the firm PUR tread rolls easily and treats the floor more kindly than a running surface in plain plastic. The bolt hole, a simple hole straight through the bracket, makes the mounting quick and discreet under a piece of furniture.

The firm tread governs how the caster behaves. PUR at 98 Shore A has low rolling resistance and gets going easily; the firmer hardness makes the caster roll somewhat more easily than a softer PUR, but in return it damps a little less. The polyurethane takes abrasion well and stands up to oil, grease and mild chemicals, which makes the tread hard-wearing in everyday use. The twin wheel spreads the load over two running surfaces and gives a steady, smooth run even when the swivel bracket is turned on the spot.

A comparison helps. A softer furniture caster damps more and runs more quietly, but rolls heavier and carries less. A hard nylon caster rolls the most easily but makes the most noise and can mark delicate floors. This firm PUR tread lies closer to the hard end of the scale: it puts easy rolling and wear strength first, while the polyurethane is still friendlier to the floor than plain plastic. That makes it a good choice where the furniture is moved often and the floor takes a firmer running surface.

The caster has a wheel brake, which locks the wheel itself so the furniture stands still; the swivel bracket can still turn freely through 360 degrees, which makes the furniture easy to aim. Mounting with a bolt hole suits production and retrofitting where a single bolt hole is the simplest thing to work with.

The diameters are small, 40 to 75 mm, which is typical for furniture and lighter fittings where a low overall height and a discreet impression carry weight. A slightly larger diameter rolls a little more easily over joints and edges, a smaller one keeps the furniture lower to the floor. The series handles load capacities up to 55 kg per wheel, about right for furniture and lighter rolling fittings.

Where does it fit? This version sits under chests of drawers, cabinets, tables, display furniture and lighter work stands in homes, offices, shops and public premises. The firm PUR tread rolls easily on lacquered concrete, tile, laminate and parquet, and the bolt hole means the caster can be replaced or mounted quickly. The wheel brake keeps the furniture in place where it is meant to stand still.

Think about the operating environment. PUR and PA6 are happy at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp surroundings and take most everyday chemicals. If the caster stands still for a long time under load, the tread can take a small temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while; that is normal for elastic materials.
