T-handles TH20 with a stud offer the finest steps in the series for length: thirteen versions where the stud length goes from 10 to 40 mm in steps of 5 mm. That lets you pick a stud that suits your panel thickness exactly, without cutting threaded rod or stacking spacers. The handle is in polyamide PA6 with a matte black surface and the stud is in zinc plated steel; the threads are M5 and M6.
The bar width is 50 mm and the height 26 mm on every version, so the handle looks the same whatever stud length sits behind it. That is a point in itself: a machine with hatches of different thickness can use the same handle throughout, and the operator meets the same grip everywhere. You pick the thread and stud length as a variant on the product page.
The close spaced length series solves a concrete design problem. A stud that is too short gets too few thread turns in engagement; one that is too long sticks out at the back, collects dirt and risks damaging whatever passes by. With 5 mm steps you always land close to right, and the small remainder that may stick out is easily hidden with a cap nut or a cover washer if the back is visible.
The T shape gives pulling force straight along the direction of the thread and torque through the crossbar, so the handle works both as a grip and as a screw. The 50 mm width is sized for a couple of fingers, which is enough for hatches, panels, pull out drawers and catches. PA6 is tough and impact resistant; the handle takes everyday workshop life with dropped tools and tight transport without cracking.
Fitting follows two main routes. Either the stud is screwed into a threaded insert or a welded in nut in the material and locked, or it goes through a through hole and is locked with a nut and washer on the back. In both cases you choose the stud length by the thickness of the material plus the engagement or the protruding length the joint needs; the data sheet reports all dimensions for each version.
In industry TH20 with a stud turns up on inspection hatches in machine guards, on format parts in packaging machines that are changed between products, on adjustable stops and on sliding panels in test equipment. The zinc plated stud is made for a dry indoor environment; in wash bays or chemically loaded spaces the surface treatment should be checked against the documentation of the manufacturer before the series is chosen.
The difference from TH10 with a stud is worth knowing. TH10 comes in three bar widths and threads up to M10, but only two stud lengths; TH20 sticks to one format and two threads and offers the whole length series in return. If you are drawing a design where the panel thicknesses vary, TH20 is the smoother choice, and if you need a coarser thread or a wider grip you go to TH10.
Thinking in series also makes purchasing and stores easier. Instead of stocking cut threaded rod in odd lengths you pick the right stud length straight out of the series, and since all versions share the handle body you can change length late in a project without redesigning the grip. For maintenance departments that means one and the same item, in a few chosen lengths, covers most of the hatches in the machine park. That saves both shelf space and order lines over time, and when a hatch is rebuilt the step to the next length is never far.
