PE Bulk, PE Ultra with targeted additives
PE Bulk is built on the same base material as PE Ultra, but with additives that aim the material at one specific job. Three versions, three different problems solved.
What it is
PE Bulk is PE Ultra with targeted additives in the base material. The base is the same, the ultra high molecular weight polyethylene with high toughness and low friction, but the additives move the properties in one particular direction. That lets you pick the version that matches what actually wears in your application instead of compromising with an all-round material.
Common applications
PE Bulk is used in the same places as PE Ultra, that is slide rails, wear plates and protective linings, but where one specific problem stands out. If it runs stiff you pick the MoS² version, if the wear is extreme you pick Bead, and if static charge has to go you pick UV. Outdoors all three work.
Limitations
PE Bulk shares the limits of polyethylene in heat and stiffness, and the additives do not change that. We carry the material as sheet only, and in a limited number of dimensions and colors. The surface does not take adhesive.
Grades and variants
Three versions, all as sheet in 2000x1000 and 3000x1250 mm.
- PE Bulk Bead, with microscopic glass beads in the material for higher abrasion resistance. Yellow-green and black.
- PE Bulk MoS², with molybdenum disulfide as a dry lubricant for lower friction. Gray.
- PE Bulk UV, the antistatic version. Black. The name is misleading: all three Bulk grades take UV, so it is not the UV protection that sets it apart from the others but the fact that it conducts static charge away.
Machining
PE Bulk machines like PE Ultra: ordinary tools work, but the material is tough and wants to stretch rather than be cut, so keep the cutting edges sharp and let the chips get out. The Bead version contains glass beads and wears the tools noticeably more than the other two.
