Combi foot & locker 58x16x16 mm transparent 250 pcs/pack
A combined foot and locking fitting in pocket format: 58x16x16 mm, transparent and packed 250 pieces per pack. Combi foot & locker does double work in the assembly of paper based display boards; it carries the board as a foot downward and at the same time locks it to the adjoining parts, so the structure stands steady without glue, tools or visible screw heads.
The material is plastic with nylon, and the fitting is made solid, as one massive part without cavities. Nylon, or polyamide as the plastic is formally called, is no random choice; polyamide is tough and springy and takes being snapped on and off time after time without the grip fading the way it does on more brittle plastics. The color is given as clear, which in practice means that the fitting blends into the printed surface instead of competing with it. The whole pack weighs 1.12 kg; per fitting that works out at just under 4.5 grams.
In Swedish sign production and store interiors this type of fitting is the standard grip for making paper displays behave like furniture. A floor display for a campaign week in grocery retail, a table stand at the pharmacy counter, an exhibition desk that has to survive three days of traffic and then be packed down. What they all have in common is that they are assembled quickly on site, often by store staff with no tool habit, and then the fittings have to press on by hand and stay put until someone deliberately takes them off.
The 58x16x16 mm size makes the fitting compact enough to hide behind a front board or under a base plate. Even so, check the fit against your own board before you start a whole production. Boards from different makers differ in both thickness and core stiffness, and a snap grip that sits perfectly in one board can sit looser in another. A test fitting on an offcut takes two minutes and saves a follow up shipment. Note the result per board grade in the production notes, so the next project manager does not have to repeat the same test.
The fitting also works well with flat kits. Many sign makers deliver displays unassembled, as boards plus a bag of fittings, and let the assembly happen in the store. Then every fitting that explains itself is worth money; a part that can only go on one way cuts the number of support calls from stores on Monday morning. Put a short picture instruction in the box and stay with the same type of fitting through the whole series, and the assembly turns out the same in every store.
Fittings in pure plastic also have a practical advantage once the campaign is over. The board is usually going to be recycled as paper, and then the fittings are picked off by hand, put back in the box and used in the next build. No glue residue to scrape, no screw to find a tool for. Sort them in marked boxes by type of fitting; that saves time at the next pick.
Work out the consumption before you order. Four to eight fittings per simple display is a common rule of thumb, and a larger structure takes more; with 250 pieces in the pack you cover a normal sized campaign series with good margin. We would rather see you with ten fittings left in the box than the assembly standing still out in the store because two are missing.
