Edgeband for 16 mm SB Fibre, black, 2x50 m
Edgeband in black for paper based display boards of the SB Fibre type in 16 mm thickness. The pack holds two rolls of 50 m, 100 meters of band in total, and weighs 3.6 kg. The band covers the cut edge of the board and gives the printed display a finished, uniform close; it sits as an accessory in our paper range and belongs in the same workflow as the boards it edges.
The cut edge is the weak point of a display board, purely as a matter of looks. When a fiber board is cut to format the core is exposed, and no matter how good the print is the eye is drawn to a raw edge; the edgeband hides the core and frames the surface with an even, black line. The difference between an edged and an unedged board shows from three meters away, and in a store or a booth it is often exactly that detail that decides whether the display reads as a finished product or a temporary fix.
The band itself is made in PVC, not paper. There is a point to that: the edge is the part of the board that takes knocks, scrapes and fingers, and a plastic surface takes that handling, can be wiped clean and keeps its black through the whole campaign period. The combination of paper in the board and plastic at the edge is common in the display trade; each material sits where it does the most good.
The format is made for 16 mm board thickness. Always check the thickness of your boards before you order; a band meant for the wrong thickness either sits loose or cannot be fitted at all. The same principle applies the other way around, bands for other board thicknesses are handled as separate items.
The roll format suits the workflow in display and exhibition production. The boards are printed and cut to final format, then the band is cut to length on the spot and fitted along the edges that show; 50 meters per roll goes a long way before it is time to open roll two.
Storage and handling are uncomplicated. The bands are delivered on rolls and take little room in the workshop; always having a roll on hand is cheap insurance when a customer wants edged boards at short notice. The rolls are also easy to mark up and store by board thickness.
Work out the consumption by measuring the visible edges on your board formats and adding margin for waste and corners. A full format board that is split into smaller displays gives more edge meters than you first think; it is the splitting itself that creates new cut edges, not the board as such.
Black is the classic edge color in store and exhibition environments. It frames light prints, hides dirt and fingerprints better than light edges and works as a neutral close whatever image the board carries. In an exhibition, where booths are photographed and examined close up, the edge finish is one of the details that separate the professional build from the home build.
Together with the paper based display boards in the range, the band forms a complete workflow for printed displays: the board provides surface and stiffness, the band provides finish and edge protection. Each thing does its own job.
The people who buy it are exhibition builders, sign makers and store fitters who work with paper based display boards and want to lift the overall impression that last notch without changing board material. Edging is a small step compared to what it does for the end result.
