Combi foot, connect & locker straight double 200 pcs/pack
When a display wall gets wider than the board format, two boards have to meet in a straight joint, and that is exactly where this fitting belongs. Combi foot, connect & locker straight double combines three functions: a foot that carries against the ground, a connector that joins two boards edge to edge and a lock that holds them together until you choose to take the structure apart yourself. The pack holds 200 pieces.
The fitting is transparent; against printed surfaces and light board edges it stays discreet in the way only clear plastic can be. The double design means the fitting grips two boards at once, unlike the single versions in the same range that take one board edge. The whole pack of 200 pieces weighs 1.12 kg, which gives just over 5 grams per fitting. Light enough that a bag for a whole assembly travels in the same box as the boards.
Straight joints are more common than you would think in paper based display building. A back wall in an exhibition booth is rarely built from a single board; it is put together from two or three modules that are shipped flat and connected on site. The same goes for wide campaign fronts in stores, podiums built around a frame and long counter fronts. And anyone who has ever tried to ship a three meter wide board in one piece knows why the modular build won that match. In every case the connecting fitting makes the joint line up and stay there, instead of gaping when someone walks past and pulls at the structure.
The foot function also makes the joint carry against the floor instead of hanging free. That is one of the details that decides how a paper display ages over a campaign period. A joint that stands on a foot holds the line through the whole period, while an unsupported joint tends to start bowing after a week in warm store air. The same principle applies to podiums and counters; a foot in every joint leads the load down into the floor where it belongs.
Think about the order of work during assembly. Put the fittings on one board first, stand it against the wall or the frame and then bring the other board into the connector; trying to press two standing boards together in mid air is a two person job that turns into a one person job if you take it in the right order. Test fit on offcuts if you are using a board grade you have not run before, since the stiffness of the core affects how the snap takes.
Combine it with the corner locks and the angle feet in the same range. A well thought out fitting list covers every meeting in the structure: straight joints, corners at 90 degrees and free standing edges that only need a foot. Then the whole display is assembled with the same hand grip all the way through, and the fitter never has to work out which fitting belongs to which meeting.
Like everything in the range, the fitting is made to be reused. After the campaign it is released by hand, the board goes to paper recycling and the fittings go back in the box. For you who produce displays in series, the 200 pack means the fitting cost per unit becomes an item you barely have to calculate, while the time saved in assembly shows on every single display.
