90 Corner lock transparent 250 pcs/pack
The corner is the point where a paper display either becomes stable or starts living a life of its own. 90 Corner lock is a transparent corner lock that holds two display boards at a right angle to each other, and it is delivered in packs of 250 pieces; a volume that covers a whole campaign series rather than a single prototype build.
The principle is simple. The boards are stiff for their weight in themselves, but the angle between two boards is never stronger than whatever holds it. Two boards that meet at 90 degrees tend to slide apart at the top or fold at the angle when the structure is loaded or moved. The corner lock keeps the angle locked, and when several locks are spread along the same corner the straight corner becomes a stiff edge that the rest of the structure can lean on. It is the same logic as in all light weight construction: the stiffness sits in the angles and the edges, not in the middle of the board.
The color is given as clear. On printed surfaces that means the lock shows as a faint shadow up close and not at all at the distance where the customer meets the display. The pack of 250 pieces weighs 1.13 kg, so around 4.5 grams per lock; a handful in your pocket is enough to raise a whole booth corner.
In practice the uses are every situation where paper board meets paper board at an angle: floor displays with end panels, podiums and cubes for shop windows, exhibition booths with corners, campaign towers in grocery retail and temporary room dividers at events. Even temporary store rooms at product launches are built this way more and more often, since the whole structure can be carried in by one person. Sign makers often put the locks in the flat kit together with the boards, so the store staff can raise the display without tools and without anything having to be glued.
A couple of practical experiences. Spread the locks evenly along the corner instead of gathering them at the top and the bottom; that gives a straighter edge and cuts the risk of the board bowing between the mounting points. Test fit on offcuts before series production, since the grip is affected by the thickness of the board and the stiffness of the core. And count corners per display before you order: a cube has four standing corners, and with several locks per corner it takes more than you guess.
The corner lock belongs to the same accessory family as the angle feet, the straight connectors and the plastic screws for paper based boards. Staying with one and the same family of fittings through a build has a concrete value; the fitter learns one hand grip and can then repeat it through the whole display, whether it is a corner, a joint or a foot.
Being transparent also means the same lock works whatever the color setting of the print. Anyone running many campaigns in parallel avoids keeping several colors in stock; one and the same corner lock suits the black electronics campaign as well as the white pharmacy display. Stock keeping becomes one item instead of four, and the picking errors disappear along with it.
After the campaign the locks make taking it down as quick as putting it up. They are released by hand, the board is sorted as paper and the locks are reused in the next production. For you who deliver displays in series, that means the fittings are not a consumable cost in the same sense as the board; they are more like tools that rotate between projects and pay for themselves every lap.
